INSTRUCTIONS: RESERVATION OF NAME F0016

This form is used to reserve the name of a corporation or partnership conducting business inside the state of Mississippi. This form is fairly easy to fill out, and you can find instructions at the following link: http://www.sos.ms.gov/links/business/fees/corporations/i0016.pdf.

“Reservation of Name F0016 Step 1”

Check the appropriate box in the first section of this form. Do not check more than one box.

“Reservation of Name F0016 Step 2”

Enter the name to preserve in section 2. Regard the following rules for each type of business:

1. Corporation- the name needs to contain one of the following terms: Company, Corporation, Incorporation, Corp., Inc., or Ltd.

2. Limited Partnership- the name needs to contain one of the following terms: Limited Partnership or L.P.

“Reservation of Name F0016 Step 3”

Section 3 is required for a foreign corporation or foreign limited partnership electing to use a certain name in Mississippi. Make sure to limit the name to 60 characters or less, and do not use more than 2 lines. This name is only used if the corporation’s real name cannot be used in Mississippi.

Enter the full legal name of the applicant in section 4. Make sure the applicant’s name is 40 characters or less. Do not include over 45 characters on a line. Also, limit the city to 20 characters, the state to 2 characters, and the zip code to 9 digits.

The registered own needs to provide their signature in the box on the bottom of this form.

The filing fee for this form is $25. Expedited service will cost more. Make the fee payable to Secretary of State.
