INSTRUCTIONS: ARIZONA PART-YEAR RESIDENT CREDIT FOR TAXES PAID TO ANOTHER STATE OR COUNTRY (Form 309-PY)

In 2007, form 309-PY was issued in Arizona instead of form 309, which was used in years before. In 2008, Arizona returned to use of this form to obtain credit for taxes paid to another country or state. Form 309-Py can still be obtained from the website of the Arizona Department of Revenue.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 1: If not filing for calendar year 2007, enter the beginning and ending dates of your calendar year.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 2: In the first blank box, enter your name as it appears on form 140PY or 140X.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 3: In the second blank box, enter your Social Security number.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 4: If filing jointly, enter your spouse's name as it appears on forms 140PY or 140X in the third blank box.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 5: If applicable, enter your spouse's Social Security number in the fourth blank box.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 6: If claiming a credit for taxes paid to another state, enter the two-letter abbreviation for that state.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 7: If claiming credit for taxes paid to another country, enter the name of that country.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 8: Calculate your Arizona portion of income taxable by both Arizona and the other state or country on lines 1 through 23 as instructed.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 9: Enter your name and Social Security number at the top of the second page.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Credit For Taxes Paid To Another State Or Country 309-PY Step 10: Complete lines 24 through 31 as instructed in order to calculate your total available credit. Attach the completed form to your return.
