INSTRUCTIONS: EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE A DC INCOME TAX RETURN (Form FR-127)
Washington D.C. residents may apply for an extension of six months to file their district tax return. This article discusses form FR-127 which should be filed in such cases. The document is available on the website of the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue. Note that payment must be submitted along with this extension or penalties and interest will be paid.
Extension Of Time To File A DC Income Tax Return FR-127 Step 1: The first page has three sections. The top half is a worksheet used to calculate the tax you owe which will not be submitted along with your application.

If you are filing jointly, include your spouse's name and Social Security number as well. Make checks or money orders payable to "DC Treasurer."
