INSTRUCTIONS: ALABAMA TAXPAYER REFUND INFORMATION (Form IT: 489)
Alabama taxpayers who have an inquiry to make about the status of an expected refund can do so using a form IT: 489. This document is obtained from the website of the Alabama Department of Revenue.
Alabama Taxpayer Refund Information IT: 489 Step 1: Enter your Social Security number, as well as that of your spouse if returns are filed jointly.
Alabama Taxpayer Refund Information IT: 489 Step 2: Enter your name as filed on your return and your current mailing address.
Alabama Taxpayer Refund Information IT: 489 Step 3: Give the date on which you filed the return in question and the tax year for which it was filed.

Alabama Taxpayer Refund Information IT: 489 Step 11: You must complete a separate form for each tax year. Once you have completed the form, you should mail it, along with any applicable correspondence, to the address given at the bottom of the second page.

If none of those written provide an explanation, a written explanation will be entered on line 17, "Other."
