INSTRUCTIONS: L-4260 MICHIGAN PROPERTY TRANSFER AFFIDAVIT (Form 2766)

All Michigan transfers of property must be documented with an affidavit even if a deed is not recorded. This form 2766 must be submitted to your local assessor by the purchaser within 45 days of the transfer. If filed late, a penalty of $5 per day will be assessed, with a maximum penalty of $200 possible. The form is available on the website of the state of Michigan.
