INSTRUCTIONS: MARYLAND HOMEOWNERS' PROPERTY TAX CREDIT APPLICATION (Form HTC-60)
Maryland residents who earn less than $60,000 annually may be eligible for a property tax credit. Form HTC-60 is filed to apply for this tax credit. Read the instructions to determine whether you qualify for this credit before completing it. The form is available on the website maintained by the state's Department of Assessments and Taxation. Answer every question. If a question is not applicable to you, write "none."
Maryland Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Application HTC-60 Step 1: Sections one through four ask for your name, Social Security number, birth date and telephone number. If you file your taxes jointly with a spouse, give their name, Social Security number and birth date in sections five through seven.
Maryland Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Application HTC-60 Step 2: Give your property address in section eight. If your mailing address is different from your property address, give this in section nine. Attach a written explanation of why this is the case.
Maryland Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Application HTC-60 Step 3: In section 10, indicate if you are single, married, separated, divorced or widowed. If one of the latter three, give the date on which the end of the marriage occurred. In section 11, enter your property account number. If you are a resident of Baltimore City, provide your ward, sect, block and lot number. If you are in an incorporated town, give its name.
Maryland Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Application HTC-60 Step 4: Section 12 asks if you own another piece of property. If so, attach a list containing all relevant locations, property account numbers and property uses. Indicate whether you own or operate a business. In section 13, indicate whether you will live in the property in question following July 1 for more than six months. If not provide, an explanation.
Maryland Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Application HTC-60 Step 5: Section 14 requires you to list non-dependant adult members of your household. Give the amount they pay in room and board in section 15. Sections 16 and 17 concern the uses of the property and the number of apartments and rent being charged, if any.
Maryland Homeowners' Property Tax Credit Application HTC-60 Step 6: Detail all sources of income in section 18. Indicate whether you filed a federal tax return in section 19. Sign and date the form.
