INSTRUCTIONS: CLARKE COUNTY MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATION

Before a wedding can take place in Clarke County, Georgia, a marriage license must be completed. The application for a marriage license can be downloaded from the official website of the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. The application must be completed in handwritten, printed blank ink or typed.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 1: Both the bride and groom must fill out the application. The groom's side of the application is the left column.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 2: The groom should enter their full name at the top of the page in the first box where indicated.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 3: The groom should enter their birthdate in numerical form (MM/DD/YYYY), the state where they were born and their race.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 4: The next group of information requested concerns residence. Enter the city or town where the groom lives, along with the zip code. Additionally, answer "Yes" or "No" to the question about whether you live within city limits. Provide the county and state of residence where requested.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 5: List the number of previous marriages, if any, and provide a brief explanation of how the last marriage ended.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 6: Provide your Social Security number where requested.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 7: Where requested, state the highest level of grade school education completed, and note the highest level of college education completed, if any.

Clarke County Marriage License Application Step 11: Submit the form to the Probate Court. The application should be approved within half an hour. There is a $27 submission fee for couples who have completed a premarital education. The fee for couples who have not completed this program is $67.
