INSTRUCTIONS: FLORIDA APPLICATION FOR REFUND OF AD VALOREM TAXES (Form DR-462)
Florida property owners are required to pay an ad valorem tax, which is interchangeable with property tax. If you feel that the assessed value of your property is excessive or you have paid taxes in error, you may file a form DR-462 to apply for a refund of these payments. The form is found on the website of the Florida Department of Revenue.

For those who have had their property misclassified or its value otherwise overestimated, they must include a copy of the state tax receipt for the year they are seeking a refund for, a certificate of correction signed and dated by a property appraiser, and a copy of homestead exemption application or renewal if applicable.
