INSTRUCTIONS: OREGON PETITION FOR DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE/DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP (Form 1B)
Heterosexual married couples or gay members of a domestic partnership can represent themselves in an Oregon divorce. This article discusses form 1B, a petition which initiates the process of dissolution of marriage. This petition will be filed by one spouse against the other and can be found on the website of the Oregon Judicial Department.
Oregon Petition For Dissolution Of Marriage/Domestic Partnership 1B Step 1: At the top of the page, indicate whether you are filing for the dissolution of a marriage or domestic partnership. Enter your name for petitioner and that of your spouse for respondent. You should also list any child who is over age 18 and under 21 but still a dependant.
Oregon Petition For Dissolution Of Marriage/Domestic Partnership 1B Step 2: In section one, write the location and date on which your union was formalized. In section three or four, answer the appropriate question about which partner has been a resident of the state for at least six months.

Section nine asks you detail your requests for a parenting plan. Section 10 requests you detail child support orders already in effect and detail wishes for future support payments, including health insurance costs. In section 11, state which party should maintain life insurance for their children and for how much. Detail additional wishes in section 12.

In section 18, indicate you wish for either spouse to have their premarital name restored. In section 19, give the information requested or explain why doing so would be dangerous.
