INSTRUCTIONS: JOINT PETITION FOR SIMPLIFIED DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE (WILL COUNTY) (Form 49A)

Couples who have not been married for more than 8 years in Will County, Illinois may file a joint petition for simplified dissolution of marriage provided they do not have any children together. Additionally, the wife cannot be pregnant, neither spouse may earn more than $20,000, the combined income of both spouses cannot be greater than $35,000, and at least one spouse must have resided in the state of Illinois for at least 90 days. Note that spouses must have lived at least six months apart before they can file this petition jointly. This form is solely for people completing a divorce without an attorney. The document may be obtained from the website of the Will County Circuit Court.
