INSTRUCTIONS: ARIZONA PART-YEAR RESIDENT PERSONAL INCOME TAX RETURN (Form 140PY)

Arizona part-year residents file their state personal income taxes using a form 140PY. This document can be obtained from the website of the Arizona Department of Revenue.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 1: If not filing for the calendar year preprinted on the form, enter the beginning and ending dates of your fiscal year.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 2: On line 1, enter your first name, middle initial, last name and Social Security number, as well as the same information for your spouse regardless of whether you are filing separately or jointly.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 3: On line 2, enter your current home street address, daytime phone number and home phone number.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 4: On line 3, enter your city, town or post office, state and zip code.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 5: Indicate your filing status by placing a check mark next to the appropriate statement on lines 4 through 7.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 6: Enter the number of exemptions being claimed in the categories listed on lines 8 through 10. Note that if claiming dependents on line 10, you must complete Part A on the second page.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 7: Indicate your residency status with a check mark next to the appropriate statement on lines 11 through 13.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 8: Enter your federal adjusted gross income on line 14.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 9: Complete Part B on the second page to compute your Arizona income, then transfer the value from line B19 there to line 15 on the first page.

Arizona Part-Year Resident Personal Income Tax Return 140PY Step 10: Complete Part C on the second page to compute additions to income, then transfer the value from line C24 there to line 16 on the first page. Complete Part D on the second page to compute subtractions from income, then transfer the value from line D36 there to line 17 on the first page.
