INSTRUCTIONS: ALABAMA APPLICATION FOR BENEFICIARY PAYMENT DEFERRED RETIREMENT OPTION PLAN (Form RSA DROP BEN) Surviving beneficiaries of deceased enrolled participants in Alabama's Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or Employee Retirement System (ERS) use a form RSA DROP BEN to apply for payments of their benefits. This document is found on the website of the Retirement Systems of Alabama. Alabama Application For Beneficiary Payment Deferred Retirement Option Plan RSA DROP BEN Step 1: At the top right-hand corner, indicate with a check mark whether the deceased was enrolled in TRS or ERS. The first part of the form should only be completed by spouses of the deceased. If applicable, check Part A if you wish to receive payment through a lump sum.
